The specific demands on children’s components make them differ a lot from adult components. Not only that kids are smaller, but also do not have the same strength in their hands, for example, when it comes to braking. That's why Merida have chosen specific components to ensure that our youngest cyclists are able to use their bikes safely and comfortably and make them easy to handle in any situation.

Merida Matts J.20 bikes feature front suspension and a lightweight, high-quality frame with youth optimised geometry. This helps to keep the weight down, which is a big advantage for much lighter riders. Gears are also kept to a minimum, avoiding confusion for young riders, as well as reducing weight.

Frames are made with the same 6061 lightweight aluminium Merida use in their adult bikes; they don't cut any corners. They're also painted and lacquered in the same way, so the bikes can still look great even after a few tough knocks.
